As you can see from the Chart, there are 5 fewer subjects potentially testable on the UBE than in the former NY Exam format.

In addition, you should be aware of these other changes:

• There will be no NY Multiple Choice Exam (although a separate, post bar-exam compliance test with 50 Multiple Choice Questions will be required)

• Essays will be limited to 30 minutes in length under the UBE as compared to the generally longer (45-60 minutes) format of the current NY Exam

• There will be 2 MPTs in the UBE rather than the single MPT now. In addition, the MPTs will have a 90-minute time limit instead of the flexible timing currently offered

So What Do These Changes Mean?

Based on our experience with the UBE in 14 other jurisdictions for the past several years, we think the new test will be significantly easier than the current exam. Here are a few reasons for our conclusion:

1. There are fewer subjects to study
2. The core of the exam – the 7 MBE Subjects – are also the core of the Essay section, making study more focused and compact
3. Shorter Essay Questions and set time limits will allow for better, more focused writing, particularly for students who use our exclusive and successful UBE Writing Format
4. Removing NY Multiple Choice will reduce both the number of subjects and the need to learn NY differences for Multistate Topics that currently can be tested on the NY Day of the Exam as well.

大家都說LLM工作不好找，沒人脈、沒身分、沒經驗根本不可能找到。先記得：平常心

一切都是命。是你的就會是你的。

我（無緣）的幾個工作是透過兩個管道找到的：networking and legal staffing. 人脈要經營有成得花上一段時間，運氣好的話兩個禮拜（這絕對上輩子燒了兩萬柱好香）有結果，但多認識點人不會有錯；legal staffing真的是運氣，上網登錄了履歷資料三百年後才會突然打來問你能不能兩個禮拜後上工，不過也有可能是因為履歷表要認真的選用關鍵字，才不會過了那麼久才在茫茫人海中被發現。

找工作問題可以找誰談/討論/請教：

1. Career Consultant: Good luck.  (咱那個負責LLM的去談了也是浪費時間，雖然一開始負責履歷表修改的L我很愛，只是後來換人了…)

2. Professors：我去找教授談的時候，他給了我時間表，每一階段(大概兩個禮拜)完成後都可以回去找他談，然後再擬定下一個階段的策略方向。他也介紹我認識assistant dean of career services, 說他們倆個雖然不討人喜歡但有其中一方的背書絕對幫到底XD

3. Other Professionals/Friends/Classmates: 第一，隔行如隔山；其次，有身分有經驗的人說的話信一半就好XD 尤其有身分還在那邊靠北的直接去吃屎吧!!!!

履歷表/RESUME/CV

履歷表一定要請人家(有經驗的人)幫忙看，我有請工作很多年的律師同學/朋友(至少四個)看過，給networking認識的別校的career consultant看過(他在那間學校是負責JD就業的，後來又介紹我認識我們自己的JD career consultant)，也有請教授看過。

字型要用什麼，bloomberg說不要用times new roman, 可是在學校教授都要求要用這個自行寫報告啊!!!

格式不是大問題，簡潔，「對齊」(法律人沒點強迫症正常嗎XD)。一開始用的格式是(這裡)學校提供的，有個usc的朋友亂七八糟的格式也是找到工作~但我很在乎自己看不看得爽，所以後來我自己很搞剛的硬要跟別人不一樣 ↓ ↓ ↓。

話說，面試的時候人家問我修了幾堂課什麼課怎麼上法，所以我決定要一鼓作氣地把「唸書」這部分的心得整理好。

飛美國之前就要決定我這學期、甚至這一整年要上什麼課實在很刺激。NY bar有要求一定要上的課，法學院已經幫我們列出這些課程可以選的時段有哪些，有些只有第一學期有，有些只開春季，把這部分搞定後，再來看我Business Law Specialization，同樣分成必修課跟選修課，有不少課符合NY bar的學分要求。其實第一學期要上什麼課大致就搞定了，剩下的不是要有先修，不然就是跟這些非上不可的課衝堂。

New York Bar – 考試準備 Bar Review (2014)

Bar review在過了畢業典禮之後開始有了新的含意，再也不是那個每周四去酒吧夜店飲酒作樂、令人期待的活動了(哭)

我記得報那個補習班、考bar進度安排等等話題變成大家見面的問候語大概也已經是11月的事情，今年好像提早了到10月了。各家補習班(Kaplan, Barbri, LLM bar review, Themis等等)會到學校擺攤，這時候就是補充螢光筆、原子筆、耳塞、水瓶、喉糖還有免費索取各種outline的好機會。我自己報名的是Barbri的課，是所有補習班裡面最貴的，有傳言說出題的人有故意要讓他們的預測失準，但考量到(1) 他老牌 (2) 大家幾乎都報這家 (3) 其他家好像也沒有特別吸引我的，就算一口氣要花掉好幾千塊也還是乖乖登記了。登記之後我死拖活拖不交訂金，交了訂金之後再度死拖活拖不想繳全額(完全不知道這是什麼堅持XD)，錢的事啊~總是想說有沒有機會來點折扣嘛!!

New York Bar – 初體驗：跟考試本身沒關係的周邊小事

媽的 終於考完了

一開始覺得選到曼哈頓考場是很幸運的事情，結果一進城就無法收心了!考場Jacob Javtis Convention Center 在11th Ave. & 34th St.交叉點。我住在Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. 本來想說沒住曼哈頓島上是不是給自己找麻煩，但其實考試兩天從家裡到考場只花了30分鐘，Q Line local train只停主要大站。去場勘那個星期日，因為Q Line每站都停反倒花了好多時間。

• 住宿的地方我是在airbnb上面找的，純粹就是想要住在別人家裡，感覺才不會太悲苦。剛好host的朋友一堆都是律師~~~

坦白說這地方根本Close to nowhere… 大概也是因為第一次到紐約，對這地方很陌生才會覺得從地鐵站要走很久，考試第一天選到的出口讓我少過一個紅綠燈，感覺有近一點；第二天又走了一個新的出口，一出來就看到host說的公車，感覺又少花了很多力氣。考試前兩天跟host的鄰居在院子裡聚餐，他們要我快去準備毛衣，說考場是freezing的狀態。隔天我奮不顧身地拋下未完成的複習進度，去了一趟Brooklyn downtown隨便買了厚一點的衣服。其中兩位是律師，當年也都是在那邊考試。他們說要盡早到(尤其是第一天九點就開始考試)，趕快加入入場隊伍(Security check and ID verification)，自己帶食物，還有早點上廁所。

上完最後一堂課，我跟陽子同學坐在法學院庭院裡享受溫暖的陽光，順便跟她聊到–在圖書館以外的地方–我已經跟人家分手了又差點跟別人在一起了又經歷了多少荒謬無稽的事情了。我說，I don’t want my life to be so ‘interesting’. 她笑了，笑著回我：No, it’s not your life that is interesting. It’s all because YOU are an interesting person.

在我的計畫中，這九個月是應該要平平靜靜，好好的寫部落格文章，好好的紀錄生活，好好的讀書。我很快地交到了朋友，對付生活中大大小小的問題很能化險為夷，不小心忘了也都有人提醒，每一堂課對我來說都新奇無比，儘管上第一堂課時被自己的英文程度嚇到(媽呀我怎麼可以都聽不懂!!!!)，過了一個月也算進入狀況，outline等等的學習輔助教材不用開口就有人送上門，周末、下了課就有朋友開車說要去哪裡吃哪裡玩哪裡購物，閒閒沒事就去海邊，每個星期四去Bar Review飲酒作樂。加上朋友都是外國人，來這邊一個月才累積說了100個中文字，在其他科系的學生抵達之前，我已經活得像個在地人。

[L.A.] 亂傳的那些有的沒的

我以為我來美國之後做人很成功，而且懂得避嫌從來不跟同program的人約會(雖然後來在緊要關頭失守)，最後甚至把範圍擴大到整個法學院，結果證明這一切futile。大概是放出國一下子太開心，太活潑，活得自在到忘記收斂，沒想到不自知的情況下被傳了那麼多事情，到底被多少人當成情敵呀，到底被多少人討厭了，到底被說成多愛玩啊，到底我跟異性的任何互動是不是都被解釋成什麼了呢… 是不是畢業後才一件一件的被我知道，也算是我幸運吶？

很親近的朋友平常說的話都很有說服力，唯獨這些烏煙瘴氣的事情，別人要發揮多少想像力真的無法控制。我這什麼體質，從來就只有被傳緋聞的份？雖然不是第一次遇到這種事情，但是在我所信任的圈子裡被這樣認定，再怎麼淡定還是很震驚，被一個我滿心祝福的朋友當成情敵更讓人難過(媽的，我還因為你的事哭了一場= =)，然後都畢業兩個月了還繼續被問是不是跟誰誰誰在交往，囧，從來沒有的事情過再久還是沒有啊(還沒機會跟亞洲人約會啦…)

原本很常一起活動的朋友，很親切的朋友，很熟悉的彼此的生活突然陌生了起來都事出有因吶，是因為當時正忙我自己的事情才沒注意到吧，事後諸葛一下，時間點吻合的讓人難以置信。大家都是成年人了，就坦率一點吧!

這下，所有美好的回憶都變成自以為是了

 

 

 

想到某些人心還是會絞痛一下，看到某些照片淚腺還是會突然很發達，慶幸自己每天都認真畫好眼妝，這樣就再也不會哭泣了

[L.A.] dine LA restaurant week 2014 Jan

With respect to the upcoming second round Dine LA Restaurant Week (7/14-7/27), I decide to write a brief review of my participation earlier this year. Unlike others who targeted all those famous restaurants such as Melissa, I simply followed my instinct when picking up which restaurant to try.  This time though, I think I would like to adopt a more careful way like looking up all the restaurant listed and select the most valuable packages provided ♪

Gyu-Kaku

I only went to a total of FIVE restaurants during the promotion period. A very humble numbers I know… The first spot was Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ Dining. There are several locations and the one we visited was Beverly Hills store (163 North La Cienega Blvd.
Beverly Hills, CA 90211). It was quite easy to find a street parking space. They provided $15 Lunches and $25 Dinners plan which sounded quite attractive until my friend told me that there are also Gyu-Kaku restaurants in Taiwan … Alright, sorry that I used one opportunity during dine LA week and took you to a place 3 mins from your place in Taipei…
